Geothermal energy extraction with pollutant immobilization

Together with our network partners, we develop innovative concepts for geothermal energy extraction. The special focus is on geothermal energy extraction from contaminated soil. In this process, according to VDI 3898 (VDI guidelines for physical-chemical soil treatment plants), the immobilization of pollutants in contaminated soils takes place in combination with the development of an energy monolith.

The linking of immobilization of chemical pollutants in contaminated soils as a monolithic structure, with integrated heat absorbers (BMe), is an innovative system that significantly increases the energy efficiency of a building.

The monolithic construction method follows the principle of reducing the contact surfaces of pollutants with the surrounding soil structure. After immobilization of the chemical pollutants, the environmental hazard potential can be significantly reduced.
